
Teaching and Learning with Technology: A Professional Development Model

Abstract
Technology provides powerful new opportunities to enrich student learning across the curriculum. In order for students to have access to these new tools in meaningful ways, their teachers must be skilled in the use of technology as it applies to the curriculum. This paper describes a professional development program that assists teachers in gaining new skills, processes, and ways of thinking. The courses in this program use a project-based approach to meet staff development needs. Participants' evaluation of the program has been very favorable but the effect of the program won't be known for years to come. We would hope to see changes that ultimately have a positive effect on student learning.
