Abstract

E-portfolios, like printed portfolios, function as a platform for students to collect their work, select examples to display and reflect on what they learned (Lorenzo & Ittelson, 2005). While many universities may be using e-portfolio systems housed on institutional servers, new cloud computing technology allows access to a wide array of web 2.0 tools and applications that are helping to simplify the way in which students can create, store, access and present their work via an e-portfolio. This article will discuss a new model of e-portfolio using web 2.0 tools and applications like Google sites that are transforming the way in which preservice teachers at the University of Houston use and maintain electronic portfolios.
