Abstract

Converting an instructor-led course to an online course is not just as simple as putting PowerPoint slides online. In addition to adapting the content, the delivery format and interactive activities need to be carefully crafted in order to enhance learning experience. Drawing from experiences of teaching hybrid and online teacher training courses, and college ESL courses, the presenters will share with the audience the do’s and don’ts when designing online courses and converting an instructor-led course to an online course. Through a comparison of two online courses and their original versions (an instructor-led course and a hybrid course), presenters will facilitate an interactive discussion about effective activities that are suitable for e-learning, as well as issues encountered and solutions adopted. In addition, the audience will walk away with strategies to enhance interactivity in synchronous and asynchronous e-learning.
