Abstract

Social presence is an important concept for the success of learning in distance education. Closely examined in this study were variables affecting social presence and its relationship with learning satisfaction. The data for this study was collected through the survey from eighty one students enrolled in a cyber university and multiple regression was used for its analysis. The study result showed that media integration, quality teaching, interactivity were good predictors of both social presence and learning satisfaction. But neither interactivity nor social presence had a causal effect on learning satisfaction even though they showed positive correlations with it. The explanations for those relations were provided with practical implications and suggestions on online course design and management
