Abstract

The poster will disseminate the findings of the second year of the project, Simulation Enhanced Training for Science Teachers funded by National Science Foundation –Research in Disabilities Education grant. The project uses a web-based virtual classroom to train special education science teachers. The second year of the study aimed to find if the use of simulated classroom to teach science modules increased the teacher preparedness and inclusion skills of special education science teachers. The participants were 186 pre-service and in-service special education teachers enrolled in graduate and undergraduate programs in a large Texas university. Of several important findings, it was interesting to note that the treatment group showed a significant increase in teaching skills and knowledge of effective practices. The other results are also discussed.
