Abstract
Abstract: A research institute in North Carolina conducted an evaluation of the first year implementation of the one-to-one (1:1) learning pilot initiative, which involved seven Early College High Schools (ECHS) and one traditional high school with a total across the eight schools of approximately 2000 students and 200 school staff. In these schools, every teacher and student received a laptop computer and wireless Internet access was provided throughout the school. The goal of the initiative is to use the technology to improve teaching practices, increase student achievement, and better prepare students for work, citizenship, and life in the 21st century.
