Abstract

The researches of how to develop e-learning that can help students improve their learning outcomes have been focused recently. The integration of constructivist learning theory to e-learning is one of the solutions. As a result, the Constructivist E-learning Environment (CEE) model is proposed and implemented. After evaluating the CEE model under real circumstances for several times, a limitation of the CEE model was found. The Extended Constructivist E-learning Environment (ECEE) model is then proposed as a mean to enhance the CEE model. The ECEE model consists of four components which are Learning Activity, Collaboration, Exploration, and Construction. Afterwards, the new version of Constructivist E-learning System (CES) is developed based on the ECEE model. It is believed that the new CES can overcome the previous model limitation. In addition, the new CES is easier for teachers to understand the constructivist learning concepts and be able to maximize the potential use of constructivist e-learning tools which will finally improve students’ learning outcomes.
