Online learning works for diverse-skilled students

In light of the importance of online learning as a teaching tool, an ongoing five-year study was designed to face the challenge of adapting an online course for group of students of diverse skills; students with learning disabilities (LD), excellence students and regular students. The “Science Education” on-line course, part of the teacher-training program for k-2 pre-service teachers, focuses on constructing a science teaching unit and is based mainly on learning scientific concepts, fostering lab skills, and practicum. The intention of the study was to find a framework for implementing the online labs, as well. This study carefully reports a slight but explicitly marginal advantage of the LD pre-service teachers
achievements in comparison to the other pre-service teachers. Moreover, the study shows a five year gradual improvement in the online labs performance, and suggests synchronized lectures and forums for increasing effectiveness and learning.
