Assessing Pre-service teachers’ Level of Technology Competencies and Perceptions toward Integrating Technology

This paper investigated pre-service teachers' perceptions toward technology integration. A course entitled Technology Applications in Education was designed to prepare pre-service teachers to integrate technology into educational settings. 26 subjects from a mid-western university in United States taking the course were examined through a pre-test-and-post-test questionnaire. The data of their prior knowledge, perceptions, and computer experiences were analyzed. An ANOVA was performed to analyze the students' perceptions. Students' reflections from their final electronic portfolio were reviewed and treated as supplementary information. The results showed that student perception toward technology integration significantly improved at the end of the course. Suggestions for further research are also discussed.
