Abstract

In this paper, we investigate the effect of the relationship between educators and students on their preference for viewing explanatory videos. We asked three educators (teachers and TAs) to create explanatory videos for a comprehension test, and asked 88 students to watch them. The educators consisted of one teacher who was in charge of the lecture, one TA who was in charge of the student's class, and one TA who was not in charge of the student's class, each of whom had a different relationship with the student. We applied the Ward method to clustering based on the students' viewing history of the commentary videos. As a result, the number of video views of the TA in the non-instructional class was lower than that of the other educators, suggesting that the human relationship between the learner and the educator affected the video viewing preference. By analyzing the relationship between each cluster and the results of the comprehension test, it was confirmed that the viewing of explanatory videos affected the results of the comprehension test.
