Abstract

Due to the remote nature of Web-based learning, it is essential that learners can use a Web-based courseware with minimum efforts. A recent study has emphasized the importance of formative usability evaluation of Web-based learning. Yet there has been little research in the area (Kukulska-Hulme & Shield, 2004; Nokelainen, 2004). The paper will review the concepts and literature related to web-based courseware formative usability evaluation. Current approaches to formative usability evaluation will be examined and current issues highlighted.
