Abstract

Active k-12 teachers including graduate students studying multimedia pedagogy at a major University were provided two high quality open source tools for graphics and sound editing. The graduate students developed lessons for use with their K-12 pupils at a variety of grade levels and content areas. Data from action-research studies show that the tools increased access to multimedia technology for individuals who would not normally be able to afford these tools. Teacher-developed, standards-aligned lessons and activities are described, with examples of k-12 pupil multimedia products.
