This presentation relates to the use of information technology in teacher education, specifically inservice instruction for veteran and novice teachers. The innovative project to be described allows all K-8 public school teachers across North Carolina the opportunity to earn teaching license renewal credits in reading methods through an online format. In addition to learning about selected reading strategies, module participants receive the opportunity to try these methods with students, reflect upon the process, and receive feedback from a master teacher instructor. Information will be shared about the development of the Reading Module Project at East Carolina University, the successes of the program, and suggestions/recommendations for improvements based on collected data and evaluative feedback. Presenters will also discuss the impact these online modules have had on master teacher instructors, module developers, and participants. Session participants will take an "online tour" of selected modules.
