Abstract

Abstract: This paper describes the organization of the Unit Assessment System (UAS) in the teacher education program at Indiana State University. Predicated upon the INTASC standards, the UAS collects student performance data within each major and specific teacher education courses and practica. Faculty use a simple reporting mechanism in designated courses which is used to input student performance in a relational database. Constructed as a work in progress, the UAS is functional in its "small is beautiful" organization and robust in its overall compatibility among various programs, majors, Schools, and the College of Arts and Sciences.
