Abstract
Today’s adult student has several expectations for their post-secondary learning environment (Hofmann, 2015). Numerous studies have been conducted regarding how technology has impacted the learning or how technology should be used in classrooms. However, none of these meta-analysis and critical literature studies have examined the impact technology has on the classroom culture. This critical literature review examines a variety of studies about technology tools and their use in higher education to determine how technology has impacted, both positively and negatively, classroom culture. After synthesizing the results, recommendations for best practices in adopting and integrating technology as well as areas for further research are specified.
