Exploring creativity, innovation, and value during a library event: Extending feedback and assessment to interactive places and spaces

This paper reports on a work-in-progress designed to explore real-world, real-time feedback and assessment of a library conference event in relation to creativity, innovation, and value. Amabile’s consensual assessment technique (CAT) is adapted for use in this exploration through an interactive conference poster; social media in the form of twitter streams; an interactive web-based discussion forum; and an assessment space using an online survey tool. Content analysis is used to identify Twitter content for inclusion in the assessment space. Findings provide insights and contribute to further possibilities in adapting the CAT for use in explorations of library, information, and learning environments. This work is significant in that it formulates and experiments with a practical application of the CAT to a library event involving diverse libraries. With modifications, this work-in-progress may be extensible to other library-related events, products, services, processes, and ideas.
