Abstract

This study investigates pre-service teachers’ practices using a tablet-based note taking application (TbNA) as a digital science notebook. The digital science notebooks were used in a science methodology course and focused on the technical tools the teachers used in their writing. Twenty-seven pre-service teachers in an elementary science methodology class participated in the study. For one semester, the pre-service teachers used the TbNA as their personal science notebook. Survey responses and notebook entries were collected and analyzed. The paper presents the findings of how TbNAs can serve to benefit pre-service teachers’ writing in science.
