Abstract

Currently, there is a global push for access to research data. There is a trend toward creating research data repositories that give scientists and researchers open access for use and re-use of data (Pampel, Vierkant, Scholze, Bertelmann, Kindling, et al, 2013), including in teacher education and educator preparation programs. This brief paper discusses efforts to create a central data repository for a college of education in a western state, and includes the hurdles encountered and resulting changes to the original idea. We also offer advice for others embarking on a similar quest.
