This paper presents the virtual field trips created for pre-service teachers studying biology at the Kibbutzim College of Education in Israel. The value of such a project is examined in comparison to actual field trips and through the analysis of students' assessments. The results indicated high satisfaction from the project. It contributed to the learning process before and after the field trip in various aspects. Be that as it may, teachers encountered technical difficulties in building the virtual field trips. Therefore, Site.Wise, an authoring tool and uploading system, was created as the alternative in order to facilitate the process. These virtual field trips in biology are suggested as a complement to the actual field trips and not as a substitute.
