Abstract

This paper and presentation follows the development of a web portal for a PT3 project based at West Chester University in Pennsylvania. Through work with school, business and community partners, WCU is in the process of strengthening partnerships that enhance preservice teacher education and building an on-line community of learners among the members of the partnership. Included in the portal community are preservice and inservice teachers, WCU faculty, and other project partners. The portal design will facilitate ongoing communication and support. teachers whether they are new to teaching, have not yet taught or are experienced veterans.

This paper discusses the development of the web portal and outlines the key decisions in establishing its design and in choosing the technology used to implement it. The process of creating a community of learners among the partners will be explained. Finally, a process for evaluating outcomes from the portal implementation will be described.
