Abstract
This paper introduces the author’s experiences of assessing an online program, the Master’s degree program with two emphases (on Information Technology in Education, and on Educational Psychology). The program assessment is performed with three procedures: (a) an entrance assessment test, (b) a mid-program assessment portfolio, and (c) an exit assessment including an end-program assessment portfolio, and a comprehensive exam at the end. The quantitative and qualitative data obtained from the three procedures were used to assess (a) student performance and learning outcomes and (b) the contribution of the online Master’s program to the goals and missions of the institution. We also formulated a dynamic assessment system that has consistently provided information for us to revise some curriculum and evaluation plan. Strategies, procedures, communication tools, problems, and tips of implementing the online program assessment will also be presented.
