Abstract

As the WWW has begun to evolve into a more collaborative and easily publishable environment, educators are exploring how this phenomenon can be harnessed to impact student learning and achievement. This study explores the use of Web 2.0 tools (specifically blogs and podcasts) in a graduate course for K-12 reading specialists. The blogs and podcasts created and shared through this course are described. Areas such as digital storytelling, digital yearbooks, electronic storybooks, and oral reading and publishing are represented. Specific assignment parameters are articulated and referenced. Furthermore, potential impacts on fluency, vocabulary development, and comprehension for the reading student are explored.
