Abstract

Qualitative and quantitative results of the second year of the New Mexico Laptop Learning Initiative (NMLLI) suggest that teachers, students, and their communities support this initiative to improve student learning. Teachers report more creative, customized, collaborative lessons; students are more interested in school and focused on their work; parents have increased involvement with their student's education and communication with the school. In addition, community businesses have demonstrated interest and support for this program by offering discounts on computer services and products for participants. Teachers benefited from training through the Regional Educational Technology Assistance (RETA) and Classroom Connect Programs, and were interested in more in-depth training to advance their skills.
