Abstract
Theoretical Computer Science is an obligatory module in most study programs in computer science. Like mathematics it is a module with a high rate of examination failure. Especially at universities of applied sciences with a more practical education approach it is a course, which is not very much liked by the students. For many students the formal approach of theoretical computer science is a barrier in the study program. To overcome this barrier we implemented ICM for this course. Main goal is to provide as much individual support as possible, to motivate for this very formal course and, to encourage to a continuous learning process. The implementation of the ICM uses video based lectures, which are closely connected to an extensive textbook, an audience response system, which is used during the contact time of students and lecturer. We report here the progress report of the implementation, results of an evaluation, and give a short review of the role change of the teaching staff.
