Abstract
The integration of medical informatics and e-learning systems could provide many advanced applications including telemedicine, training, knowledge management, telemedical education, etc. Currently, both the domains of e-learning and medical image have sophisticated specifications and standards. It is a great challenge to bring about integration. In this paper, we describe the development of an educational trust network for annotating, searching and viewing DICOM Structured Records (DICOM SR) on the Semantic Web. The framework describes the DICOM SR as medical learning object based on the CanCore template. The framework design is based on the Apache Cocoon pipeline architecture and it can transform the DICOM SR learning objects into HL7 CDA reports or to MPEG7 for those records containing dynamic multimedia. In addition, this framework allows us to make multi-criteria DICOM-SR retrieval (context, semantic and content).
