Educational Effect on Analyzing Others’ Experimental Products

This study was undertaken to develop a necessary educational environment to use the same data over a long term. As a fundamental study, how students were able to cope with necessary problems was examined using program data produced by other students. Students' logs were analyzed using a text mining method. The authors considered what should be taught. Next, students answered two questionnaires related to self-evaluation after running a robotic car. The results suggest that learning using the same data produced by other students is effective. The 21 activities of running a robotic car were classified into three clusters using cluster analysis: an ability to do self-analysis, an ability to collect data by oneself, and an ability to improve communication. The authors found that each cluster of activities is useful for improving one of three clusters of abilities.
