A solution for software accessibility problem with online education

In the last seven years of teaching interface and / or multimedia tools courses, I often find out a situation that a student really want to learn knowledge about some certain software, for example flash or Dreamweaver . However, she or he cannot afford the price of the software to be installed in his or her home machine. The cost of software package sometimes is more than a laptop price now. During the last two years of development of a new program – informatics, we designed and developed the virtual servers which support the teaching and learning of our whole department. The virtual server and virtual desktop can be access anywhere in the world as long as the user has a web access. After two years of using the system, the results show that the system runs smooth and there is a great potential that this virtual server can give more flexibility to online education. Today, I would like to share the experiences and how did the technology benefit us in teaching and learning in out department. I will also discuss what I think it can bring to you.
