This paper provides a narrative considering recent empirical finding regarding ePortfolios. These finding have been organized and facilitated by the emergence of the International Journal of ePortfolio and other new scholarly opportunities. These most recent findings and the direction set by the journal are resulting in the emergence of new research questions that will ultimately validate the efficacy of specific practices associated with ePortfolios that have long been espoused at conferences and by technology vendors. Speaking broadly, research is looking specifically at applications of ePortfolios for instruction, assessment, and professional development. While chronicling this latest research, this paper also serves to provide guidance for practitioners and researchers who are looking for methodologies and scholarly findings to inform their own ePortfolio practices and research agendas.
