Abstract

The use of slide presentations in higher education has been increasing rapidly in recent years. However, the practice (convention) of taking notes during slide lectures is on the decline. Therefore, we have developed a note-taking training program designed to encourage/help learners recognize the importance of note-taking and take notes during slide lectures. Four steps of the training program gradually helped learners recognize the necessity (and showed an increased frequency) of note-taking. However, learners displayed a decreased preference for slide lectures by realizing the difficulty in taking notes during such lectures.
