Apart being one of the key factors driving m-learning acceptance, the new generations of powerful and affordable devices also contribute to a fast increase in educational multimedia content consumption. Multimedia content has many benefits for m-learning, but it also poses a number of challenges regarding the content delivery to a multitude of mobile devices with various characteristics over wireless networks with different performance. This paper proposes a solution for enabling multimedia content personalisation based on learner’s device screen resolution, as well as multimedia content adaptation based on the available network bandwidth. Video profiles consisting of recommended encoding parameters are associated to different classes of device screen resolutions, and an automatic mechanism is deployed for selecting low bitrate values for bandwidth driven adaptation. Results from a subjective study have shown that despite these values were below the minimum recommended values, they offer a good user perceived quality
