Abstract: Interactive technology allows for extraordinary change in the way that students and teachers experience learning and teaching in the classroom. This paper reviews the literature regarding the applications of Audience Response Systems. Over 30 peer-reviewed journal articles are cited to make a case for the benefits of interactive technology, including their well-documented impact on engagement and the developing research on learning outcomes. Although the use of Audience Response Systems is becoming more widespread, the potential for its use remains largely unrealized.
