ConEx is an application and research setting whose aim is to support collaborative learning in the context of conferences and lectures. The primary objectives are to diversify and deepen the conference experience, increase interactivity among and between participants and presenters, bring new networking opportunities to participants and to observe applicable educational potentials in general. ConEx is being developed as a conversation node combining different social media services. It expands conference, lecture or other learning settings by providing a conversation environment where discussion can be attached to a wider context. ConEx aggregates existing social networks together creating a learning facility that is not bound by time or place. We believe that by using computer-mediated collaborative learning approach in conference presentations, lectures, etc., learning becomes a process of multi-directional communication instead of one-way communication.
