This study focuses on family narratives that are important for the development of young children’s narrative skills. Family narratives move beyond the individual and deal with how the family makes sense of the world, follows the rules of interaction, and forms beliefs about relationships. On the based of the findings of previous studies, one of the authors developed a storybook creation software that facilitates the production of family narratives. This system is called “PeKay’s Little Author.” It is a flash application that enables families to create a storybook together. The application also allows users to record their voice with their stories and to share them with other family members. In a workshop, 40 parent-child pairs/triads participated and created stories. The members of some family added their narrations in turn, while others became characters in the story. We discussed the possibility that interactive dialogue can be promoted among family members through this software.
