mLearning and the Liberal Arts: Exploring Mobile Computing to Support Teaching, Learning and Research PROCEEDINGS

The mLearning pilot program was created in response to the growing impact of mLearning in and out of the classroom and the growing trend of mobile devices on campus. Outfitted with Apple iPod Touches or iPhones and teamed with Information Technology support staff, sixteen faculty members began a twelve-month exploration of mobile learning in the classroom in order to experiment with the devices and their applications and learn whether mobile learning could be meaningful and useful in the context of a liberal arts institution. This paper reviews the background of the project, sets forth the project design and format, and discusses the project results and future recommendations
