This paper explores inquiry-based learning as an instructional approach for students to learn mashup. Mashup involves incorporating two or more Web-based applications or data sets to compose new complex ones using visual programming tools. Even though mashup is easy to learn and fun to use, it can perform sophisticated and interesting applications. Students will benefit from creating and using these tools as a part of learning computer science as well as STEM concepts. Mashup is a specific approach of service-oriented computing (SOC). that represents the latest software technologies today, adopted by government agencies and major companies including Google, IBM, and Microsoft,. The knowledge of mashup will become an important part of preparing students with essential kills to be successful in the 21st century workforce. This mashup approach can also be considered as kind of cyberlearning advocated by NSF as the Web is the platform for exercise, sharing and learning.
