Abstract

This paper discusses a role for performance assessment in the determination of the pedagogical value of digital fabrication activities that are pertaining to elementary mathematics. Analysis focused firstly upon how the utilization of digital fabrication based activities with embedded mathematics pedagogy could be evaluated via performance assessment, and secondly how this might influence future studies that aim to assess digital fabrication activities pertaining to mathematics pedagogy. The analysis was presented as a portion of a larger panel discussion which focused on the topic of how 21st century teaching and learning can be supported and evaluated by performance assessment.
