Abstract

Abstract: 524 online charter high school students have been surveyed. The online program was an alternative option offered by one of the large public school districts on the east cost, USA. A series of statistical analyses indicate that the public school students, who choose to complete high school through the 100% online learning option, presented a unique set of prior experiences (e.g., online social networking), personal traits (e.g., difficulty with traditional learning environment, traditional media), and preferences (e.g., working as groups). Those online students, who want to pursue higher education, indicated their strong interests in learning science and mathematics while having a clear long-term goal.
