Many developing counties' Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) are currently being required to cope with the challenge of teaching increasingly large number of students despite insufficient availability of resources and infrastructure, as well as functioning within challenging financial environments. These institutions are faced with huge governmental and societal expectation to produce competent graduates in large number to minimize the risk of globalization to their national economies and societies. This position paper argues on the importance of large class teaching applying innovative pedagogy and purposeful usage of information communication technologies (ICTs) as best alternative for the countries. To this end, the paper presents review of literature in large class teaching and effective usage of ICTs in education and presents the experience of Ethiopian Universities in rethinking about higher education.
