Abstract

Teletandem Brasil is an educational research project in the areas of distance foreign language learning and teaching which has been developed at the São Paulo State University in Brazil, which aims at placing Brazilian university students in contact with foreign university students so that they can interact through the MSN Live Messenger, SKYPE or OOVOO and learn and teach their native languages and cultures. The project also includes introducing teletandem experience into foreign language teacher education programs, so that pre-service and in-service teachers can develop their computer skills, interact and exchange experiences with foreign teachers of Portuguese as a foreign language and learn more about using technological resources in the classroom. This paper aims at describing and bringing some results of a course offered to teachers of Spanish from the public sector using a virtual environment called TelEDUC.
