Web 2.0 and Its Use in Higher Education: A Review of Literature PROCEEDINGS

This paper reviews the literature on Web 2.0 uses in higher education from the previous two years (2007-2008). The goals of this review are (1) to identify how Web 2.0 technologies are used in college level instruction, and (2) to examine research evidence that Web 2.0 technologies can enhance teaching and learning. The review showed that four Web 2.0 technologies are most commonly discussed in the current literature: blogs, wikis, podcasts, and virtual environments. The findings of how each of these Web 2.0 technologies is used in higher education are discussed.
