Abstract

How could anyone with some computer savvy not learn or find what they need on the Internet with the exception of their basic needs for shelter and physical interaction and acceptance? How could anyone interested in learning another language and culture not become as immersed in that language and culture as “almost being there?” This paper addresses the possibilities of the next best thing to being immersed physically in another language and culture. Along with suggestions for multimedia and web resources for learning about other languages and cultures, it provides detailed experiences of using multimedia and web resources to assist in translation of a document from British English to Latin-American Spanish.
