Abstract

The purpose of this paper is to share some of the thoughts and ideas that we have had as we worked on redesigning a senior undergraduate course on video in education. Video technology has become ubiquitous in our schools and our lives but it seems that it is often used in a passive mode that is not particularly supportive of student learning. In this paper we briefly explore the development and nature of video technology, then examine some of the issues and various applications of video technology in education and finally present a set of course objectives and assignments to support student exploration of the application and impacts of video in education.
