Abstract

Globalization has strengthened the need for teaching and learning Business Mandarin as a communication tool; nonetheless, the traditional face-to-face practice is not sufficient to equip learners with adequate communicative and cultural skills as well as important work competencies to cope with the rapid change derived from the real-life complexities in the business domain. This paper proposes the competency-based blended learning model and illustrates such an idea via examining the design of such a system.
