Abstract

Handheld learning is an emerging pedagogical method. Handheld learning can significantly reduce dependence on fixed locations for learning, and thus have the potential to revolutionize the way that students learn. The purpose of this case study is to examine a handheld learning project with the goal for educators to understand impact, advantages, and disadvantage of handheld learning so that they may consider adapting the new tool into their instruction. Definition of handheld device and handheld learning will be provided first. Specific project background information and implementation process will be presented. Then, advantages and disadvantages of mobile learning in the project will be discussed. Finally, a conclusion will be made.
