This article discusses an online implementation of the process of thesis work and its supervision in the Oulu School of Vocational Teacher Education. I first focus on the conceptions of learning and tutoring underlying online work. I describe the special characteristics of online thesis supervision that are expressly connected with the supervision of thesis work. I then discuss the model of problem-based learning which provided the underlying approach for the construction of the thesis process in an online platform. A description of the progress of the process of thesis work in the WebCT environment is also provided. Finally, I consider issues related to the supervision of online theses.
