Abstract
The research group TACEV (collaborative learning in virtual environments) analysed the interaction among teachers in two virtual staffrooms at the Open University of Catalunya. The paper outlines the analysis of teachers' participation in an attempt to answer the research question: "How do teachers perceive the different types of interaction which take place in the virtual staffroom, specially in relation to social and teaching issues, professional development and the role of coordination. To what extent do they feel that they form part of a community?"
