Abstract

Digital libraries have become essential components for museums, archives, libraries and resource centres in the 21st century. The Asia Art Archive in Hong Kong recognizes a need for developing a digital library for its collections. This paper reports a preliminary evaluation of two possible open source software solutions (DSpace and Greenstone) for the Archive which were examined in order to select the platform to be used in developing a digital archive and library. The preliminary evaluation favours Greenstone.
