Abstract

This paper describes our reform of an experimental class of "Light Spectrum and Solar Battery" in the renewal experimental course at Tohoku University since 2004 for 1800 freshmen who major the natural sciences, and has been accused for its difficulty and heavy text contents by a large part of them. The problem is due to the large gap between the necessary knowledge and skills for the class and the most students' readiness. We analyze the problem based on the theory of the Gagne's model and made a diagram of learning hierarchy of the experiment. According to this diagram, preparatory lectures has been developed for them; a pack of web-based lectures for flexible learning for the students guided by the above diagram in any time corresponding to their different levels, it is being under development to deliver during the 2007 Spring semester.
