This symposium presents classroom research that addresses the development of media literacy skills and the integration of these skills into K-12 teacher education programs. In our ever growing “media-saturated” world, teacher educators are behooved to implement strategies that acknowledge the pervasiveness of technologies that broaden the definition of literacy in today's society. Media Literacy was defined at the Aspen Institute in 1989 as the “ability to access, analyze, communicate, and produce media in a variety of forms.” The current studies consider the importance of familiarizing preservice and graduate level teachers with the advantages and challenges of media production. These studies examine viable methods and activities that promote high quality media literacy teaching and learning. It focuses: 1) Celebrating the Process of students' work, 2) Sharing Best Practices in our classes, and 3) Rethinking Curriculum in our teacher education programs.
