Abstract

This study seeks to explore the effects of weblogs on building the community of inquiry in higher education. The undergraduates who take the "Principle of Instruction" course in a national Taiwan university in spring 2006, are the participants. Data will be collected through an online survey, focus group interviews, and content analysis of students' postings. Both quantitative and qualitative methods will be used for investigation. The results will help readers acquire a better understanding of the nature of the weblog medium and the process of higher-order learning in an asynchronous text-based conferencing environment, and the findings will provide some suggestions for the improvement of instructional design in higher education.
